Snickerdoodle Cookies

 

 

Snickerdoodle cookies are one of my favorites.  The cookie isn’t just a sugar cookie but a cookie with a great cinnamon sugar and tang from the cream of tartar taste.  It has a nice cookie chew with a little crispness around the edges.  This is my version of this traditional cookie recipe.  I hope you give my version of this traditional cookie a try.

Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cup Flour
  • 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 cup unsalted Butter, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • Cinnamon / Sugar Mixture
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 3-4 Tbsp Cinnamon (depending on your cinnamon taste)

Directions

  • Preheat oven 350 degrees
  • In a bowl add the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt
  • In a mixing bowl, add the butter and cream until fluffy.  Add the sugar and continue to mix until fully incorporated.  Add the eggs and vanilla and mix until fluffy.  
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until just combined.
  • On a parchment lined cookie sheet, using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, roll the dough into balls and then roll into the cinnamon sugar mixture, twice.  Gently press down each cookie slightly and bake for 8-10 minutes.  Remove and either dredge through the cinnamon sugar again or sprinkle some on top.
